Ken Missler, Owner / Manager

Ken Missler Owner Riva Ridge Memory CareKen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but grew up in Texas.

His first eight years of life included short stays in San Antonio, Terrell and Abilene before his family settled in Wichita Falls where he lived from grade school through college.  He met Sharon, the young lady that he would eventually marry while attending Midwestern State University.

Ken earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army, Medical Services Corps in 1982.  He worked in field and fixed hospital settings until 1988 when he attended the US Army-Baylor University Master’s Program in Health Care Administration.

He then served as administrator for the Department of Surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington from 1990 to 1993.

Following military service, Ken served as the practice administrator for orthopedic groups in Pittsburgh, PA and Greenville, SC.

He was involved in two building projects, which led him to work for Marshall Erdman and Associates (a design-build firm for health care facilities) as a Project Executive from 2002 through 2007.  That opportunity led Ken and Sharon to establish their home in Allen, TX – a growing community just north of Dallas.

In 2008, Ken began working on his broker’s license with the goal of eventually developing assisted living facilities.

On June 1, 2013, Ken purchased the 12-bed facility, “House at Cedar Ridge” and then renamed it “Riva Ridge Memory Care Center.”  From the onset, his plan has been to grow the business and then divide the operations to form two separate facilities:  Riva Ridge Assisted Living and Riva Ridge Memory Care Center.  That goal is on track to be realized by the end of 2016.

Kellie Mowery,

Clinical Manager

Kellie Mowery of Riva Ridge Memory CareKellie was born and raised in Liverpool, England. She attended Riverside College in Widnes before working for a lithographics company in Sicily in 1990. In 1991, she entered the service industry and became a stewardess with British Midland Airways for two years. While vacationing in Corpus Christi with her family, she met her future husband John and they were married in 1995.

Kellie then focused on raising her two sons at their home in Cedar Park until she came to work for House at Cedar Ridge (Riva Ridge Memory Care Center) in May 2010. Through her strong work ethic, deep sense of caring for others and her natural leadership ability, Kellie advanced as a lead caregiver and is now clinical manager for the facility.

Pat Fiero,

Food Service Manager

Pat Fiero of Riva Ridge Memory CarePat was born and raised in western New York. She moved to Texas in 1959 after marrying her husband, Don. She was a stay-at-home mom until all three of her children were in school. Pat joined the Austin Independent School District (AISD) Food Service Department in 1972 as a part-time kitchen worker. In 1974, she was accepted into the AISD food manager’s training program. She received her first kitchen assignment in 1975.

Pat continued her management training in 1987 by completing the Food Service Manager’s certification course at Austin Community College. She then began teaching various food service training courses at Texas Education Agency in addition to her supervisory duties within AISD. She managed school cafeteria programs at all levels until her retirement in 1997.

At that point, she and her husband began traveling the country in their RV and enjoyed serving as campground hosts at the Great Smoky Mountain Park until Don was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009. Pat served as Don’s caregiver until it was time to place him in memory care.

Pat searched high and low for the right facility until she found us at Riva Ridge Memory Care in May 2013 … just as Ken Missler was becoming the new owner. It didn’t take long for Ken and Pat to connect and leverage the experience that Pat could bring to the facility. Pat has been serving as the Food Service Manager since July 2013. From Ken’s perspective, there was a bit of divine intervention involved that brought these two families together to make this facility the success that it has become today. The journey continues as Pat is heavily involved in the planning for the new facility – Riva Ridge Assisted Living.
